VIC_VIETNAM STANDARD- TCVN 7364-5: 2004 FOR SIZE AND EDGE OF LAMINATED SAFETY GLASS

1. Scope of Application

This standard specifies the size, the bias limit and the complete edge of the laminated glass and laminated safety glass used in construction. This standard is not applied to the glass has a smaller  0.05 m2.

2. Normative references

TCVN 7218: 2002 glass construction - Float glass - Technical Requirements.

3. The size and the limited error

3.1. Thickness

3.1.1. Nominal Thickness

Nominal thickness of the laminated glass with a total nominal thickness of all glass components, plastic and interlayer.

3.1.2. Error on thickness limit

3.1.2.1. Limited error on thickness of the laminated glass with film

Limited error on thickness of the laminated glass is not exceed the total limited errors of the glass composition as defined in the standard such as TCVN 7218: 2002. Don't care  the limits of interlayer if intervening layer of thickness <2 mm. If the total thickness of 2 mm ³ interlayer, the limited error of the total thickness of the interlayer is ± 0.2 mm. For the plastic, thickness limited error is considered as the nominal thickness of float glass (see TCVN 7218: 2002) has the same nominal thickness.

Note: If the plastic satisfued European Technical Agreements, using limited error of thickness.

For example, glass panel glued between two float glass sheets with nominal thickness 3 mm and 0.5 mm interlayer. According to TCVN 7218: 2002, limited error of 3 mm float glass is ± 0.3 mm. Therefore, the laminated glass has a thickness 6.5 mm and nominal limited error is ± 0.6 mm.

3.1.2.2. The limited error for the thickness of laminated glass

Limited error of thickness of laminated glass shall not exceed the sum of the limited error of the glass composition as defined in the standard such as TCVN 7218: 2002 and the limited error of interlayer.

For the plastic, thickness limited error is considered as limited error of float glass with the same nominal thickness (see TCVN 7218: 2002).

Note: If the plastic satisfied European Technical Agreements, using thickness limited error.

The thickness limited error of the interlayer defined in Table 1.

Table 1. Limited error on thickness of the laminaned glass

3.1.2.3. Thickness limited error of laminated resistant glass.

The thickness limited error of laminated resistant glass does not exceed the limited error of the glass composition standards as TCVN 7218: 2002 and the limited error of the interlayer heat-resistant.

For the plastic , thickness limited error is considered as  limited error of float glass with the same nominal thickness (see TCVN 7218: 2002).

Note: If the plastic suitable European Technical Agreements, using thickness limited error.

For heat-resistant interlayer, limited error specified in Table 2.

3.1.2.4. Thickness limited error of laminated glass

For laminated glass with different interlayer, limited error on thickness glass is total the limited error of each glass component and the square root of total square discrepancies the limits of interlayer, rounded to 0.1 mm.

For example, limited error of a laminated glass consists of four sheets of float glass, nominal thickness of each plate is 3 mm, film thickness of an intervening layer is 0.5 mm and two heat-resistant interlayer between a dimension thickness is 1.9 mm, calculated as follows:

Nominal thickness: 4 mm x 3 mm + 0.5 + 2 x 1.5 mm = 15.5 mm

Limited error : 4 x (± 0.3 mm) ± 0.52 mm + 0.52 mm = 1.9 mm

3.1.3. Thickness measurement

Thickness of the glass are calculated by the mean of the measurements, measured at the midpoint of the four sides with an accuracy of 0.01 mm and then rounded to 0.1 mm.

Individual measurements are rounded to 0.1 mm is within the error limits.

For laminated glass is marbled, measurements will be performed by the disc clocks in diameter by 55 mm ± 5 mm.

3.2. Width B and height H

The size of the laminated layers are provided on the rectangle, the first dimension is the width B and the second is the length H, as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1. The width and length corresponding to the shape of the glass

Note: The width and length of the largest laminated glass depends on the composition and paste between layers used in the combination of it and depends on the manufacturing process of each producer. Each manufacturer decide the size of the largest and the smallest they can be produced.

The size in millimeters. Each size will be within the error limits specified.

2.3 1. Methods of measuring the size and area

When the nominal size of the width B and height H of the glass has identified an area not larger glass area of the rectangle based on the nominal size plus error upper limit or smaller t rectangular mentioned minus the lower limit t. The edges of the rectangle parallel to each other and the rectangle of the same mind. Limited area described by the rectangle (see Figure 2).

Figure 2. Size limited error of the rectangular glass

3.2.2. Limited error width B and length H

Limit error width B and length H are defined in Table 3 for the type size was completed, and in Table 4 for the coarse size.

Any movement (see 3.2.3) must be within the error limits.

Table 3. Limited error for the size was completed

Table 4. Limited error on the size

Do not apply the limited error in Table 3 for heat resistant laminated and laminated heat resistant safety glass. In this case the manufacturer shall determine the error limits.

3.2.3. The movement

The move d (see Figure 3) is placed between their edge of the glass composition of the plastic  or while forming laminated glass sheet.

Figure 3. The movement

Move the largest size d is defined in Table 5.

Width B and height H is considered as independent.

Table 5. The biggest movement size

4. Completing the edge

Safety glasses are tempered by means of temperature will not be cutting, sawing, drilling or machining edge after creating multiple layers, may have worked individual before temper.

The edges of the laminated glass and heat-resistant laminated glass can be secured with tape.

4.1. Cutting Edge

The edges can be cut from the glass composition has not worked (see Figure 4), or the edges are cut from the laminated sheet is processed (see Figure 5).

4.2. Edge worked

4.2.1. Sharpening convex edge (see Figure 6)

The outer edges of the laminated glass cutting and grinding are convex.

Figure 6. Convex edge sharpening

4.2.2. Edge grinding (see Figure 7)

Convex mirrors will be grinding and flat grinding. On the edge of the glass can still have a few spot colors.

Figure 7. Grinding edge

4.2.3. Polished edges (see Figure 8)

Edge of the glass is ground and then usually smoothed filings, rather than sharpening edges and smooth the edge.

4.2.4 Figure 8. Polished edges

. Polished edge (see Figure 9)

After grinding, smoothing, edge to be polished to have smooth surfaces and smooth edges.

Figure 9. Polished Edge

4.2.5. Beveled edge (see Figure 10)

Beveled edges will be smooth at an angle of no more than 600 false limits of the beveled corner is ± 30.

Note: Where required a larger angle and the limited error of the angles, they must contact the manufacturer.

Nominal size B or H will be reduced from 2 mm to 3 mm because the edges are sharpened.

Size in millimeters

Figure 10. Beveled edges

4.2.6. Saw edge

Saw edge is used saws to cut.

This edge is similar to the polished edges but there are no sharp points and sharp.

4.2.7. Waterjet cutting edge

Waterjet cutting edge is the edge used "water jet" cutting.

This edge similar to the polished edge but not the sharp and pointy.
